COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

SAFETY GUIDELINES AND PROTOCOL

Lakeland Little League will be following the attached guidelines, that we feel will help create a safe and sanitary environment for our kids to play in. 

Any individual, including players, at risk for severe illness or with serious underlying medical or respiratory conditions should only attend Little League activities with permission from a medical professional.


Below are some specifics of what our league will be implementing for the season.

 HEALTH GUIDELINES

  • Masks
    • All individuals, players and parents, should wear a cloth face mask when out in public.
    • The use of a mask by a player in the field of play is not required.
    • Players should keep mask or face covering on when sitting on the bench or in designated location where they are to 6 feet apart
    • Umpires must where a mask on the field
    • Coaches should where masks when possible


  • Temperatures
    • Temperatures of player will be taken prior to activities beginning, with the use of forehead scanner. If anyone has a fever 100.4 or higher, they will be asked to leave the field and return home to monitor their symptoms.


  • Washing Hands
    • Wash your hands often with Soap and water for a least 20 seconds.
    • If soap and water is unavailable use hand sanitizer
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
    • It is recommended all players bring their own sanitizer 


  • Cover coughs and sneezes
    • Throw used tissues immediately in the trash
    • Immediately wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
    • Use sanitizer


  • Self Monitoring
    • All individuals should measure their body temperatures to ensure that no fever is present prior to participating or attending each Little League event.
    • Anyone with symptoms of fever, cough or worsening respiratory symptoms, or has had any known exposure to a person with COVID-19 SHOULD NOT attend any Little League activities util cleared by a medical Professional.


SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES

  • No Handshakes or Personal contact celebrations
  • No Sharing drinks or snacks (team snacks are prohibited)
  • No sharing any type of equipment, including gloves, helmets, catcher gear and so on.
  • Players and Families are asked to vacate the field as soon as reasonably possible after the conclusion of their game or practice.
  • The Snack Stand will BE CLOSED. Be sure to bring plenty of your own water and food, you can not share with other teammates.
  • Players should NOT wear medical gloves in the field of play
  • Masks are not required by players in the field of play, but are required when in close proximity to others.
  • Foul Balls landing outside the field of play, MUST be retrieved by the players.
  • Ball will be spayed down every inning and/or rotated out on a regular basis.
  • Coaches and volunteer involvement will be limited for games and practices
  • Umpires will be placed what is deemed to be a safe distance behind the pitcher, while being able to call balls and strikes. Umpires will wear a mask in the field of play.


DUGOUTS

  • All players will be assigned specific seating either inside the dugout or on the bleachers.
  • No equipment will be allowed in the dugout
  • Bleachers will be reserved for players
  • All spectators must bring their own seating
  • Players and coaches should where face masks when in the dugout.
  • Coaches will retrieve the bats from other players
  • The players equipment should be disinfected when it is brought home
  • Players can not share towels or other clothing
  • There will be no  spitting, sunflower seeds or gum allowed in the dugouts or field of play.


ATTENDANCE

  • Do not show up more than 40 minutes prior to the event
  • All spectators should bring their own seating as bleachers will be reserved for the players.
  • Try to keep 6 feet apart at all times.


RESTROOMS

  • The restrooms will be open, but there will be a strict 1 in, 1 out policy
  • Please try to limit the use of the restrooms
  • There will be no Loitering in the club house.
  • After each event, the restrooms will be sprayed down with disinfectant
